I loved this essay for several reasons, not the least of which is my belief that shoes indeed tell stories. For what it's worth, my short story collection, SHOES HAIR NAILS, is an exploration of everyday symbols in our world and their resonance in our lives. Beyond 'Let's go outside," shoes really do say a lot -- culturally, metaphorically, and more. And I can't help telling someone when I like her/his shoes.
