I confess to being disappointed that Idris Elba declined the role ;-) But more relevant to your essay is getting insights into Ian Fleming’s skill as a writer. I’m always curious about writers outside whatever we think of as more literary fiction. Stephen King got my attention years ago when he reviewed Donna Tartt’s ‘The Goldfinch’ and I’ve read some of his work with much appreciation. And while I’m not addicted enough to read all the Jack Reacher novels, I’ve read several and Lee Child really does have a way with words. He’s also a master of narrative pacing.
